Our Beliefs

Foundational beliefs of our Christian faith

We believe that the Bible is God’s Word. It is the supreme source of truth for Christian beliefs. The Bible is the authority for a believer’s faith and lifestyle.

We believe that there is only one true God who is the Creator of all things. He eternally exists in three Persons: God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit.

We believe that all people were created in the image of God. We have tremendous potential for good, but we are marred by an attitude of disobedience toward God called “sin.” Sin has separated each of us from God and His purpose for our lives.

We believe that Jesus Christ is the eternal Son of God, was born of a virgin and is both fully God and fully human.

We believe that Jesus is the only One who can reconcile us to God. He lived a sinless and exemplary life, and offered himself as the perfect sacrifice for the sins of all people by dying on a cross, and rose again to prove His power over sin and death. We believe that Jesus will one day physically return to earth to reign as King of Kings and Lord of Lords.

We believe that only through faith in the person and work of Jesus Christ and repentance from sin can we be reconciled to God and experience true life and joy.

We believe that the Holy Spirit is equal with the Father and the Son as God. He is present in the world to make us aware of our need for Jesus Christ. He lives in every believer from the moment of salvation. He provides us with power for living, understanding of spiritual truth, and guidance in doing what is right.

We believe that the act of baptism symbolises the death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus Christ. Baptism is a biblical command, and in itself does not save us, but is a decision a believer makes to affirm and demonstrate their love, obedience, and identification with Jesus Christ.

We believe that communion is an ordinance given by Jesus Christ to all believers. The Communion elements of bread and juice are symbols of Christ’s broken body and shed blood. These remind us of the sacrifice of Christ for us and the establishment of a new way to be in union with God. The communion elements in of itself has no power and are not a means of salvation. Rather, the communion is testament of a believer’s faith in the atoning work of the cross and the reminder of future hope.

We believe that the Church consists of those who believe in the Lord Jesus Christ. The Church is not a building. The Church submits to the authority of Jesus Christ, who is the head of the Church. It is the practice of the Church to gather regularly to encourage each other towards love and goodness.
